About the Role
Western Chilled Distributors (westchill.com) is an established cold-chain food and dairy distribution business based in Orange, supplying cafés, bakeries, supermarkets, pubs, clubs, and commercial kitchens across 24 Central West & Orana towns with leading brands including Pauls, OAK, Ice Break, Vaalia, MILKLAB, The Alternative Dairy Co., Galbani, Devondale, Priestley's Gourmet Delights, and Mama Ka'z.
We are looking for a reliable, practical, and detail-oriented Storeman / Coolroom Receiver with a Forklift Licence (LF) to join our Orange depot team on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings.
Your primary focus will be receiving our inbound linehaul deliveries, checking off stock, rotating existing inventory, putting stock away in our coolroom, freezer, and dry store, and assisting with order picking. For candidates who also hold an MR (Medium Rigid) Truck Licence, there is the opportunity for additional hours covering delivery runs when a regular driver is away.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive Inbound Deliveries: Unload incoming chilled, frozen, and ambient freight safely using a forklift and pallet jacks.
- Check Dockets, Dates & Temperatures: Verify physical pallet and carton/crate counts against delivery dockets, record arrival temperatures, and inspect use-by dates to immediately flag any short-dated, missing, or damaged stock.
- Stock Rotation & Put-Away: Put stock away systematically in the coolroom, freezer, and dry warehouse while strictly enforcing First-Expired, First-Out (FEFO) rotation so older dates are always positioned at the front for picking.
- Order Picking & Staging: Assist with picking customer orders from pick sheets and staging crates/pallets for outbound runs as required.
- Relief Delivery Driving (Optional / MR): Opportunity to step in and cover local or regional refrigerated delivery runs when a regular driver is away (if holding an MR licence).
- Depot Housekeeping: Keep the coolroom, loading dock, milk crates, and warehouse floor clean, tidy, and safe.
What We Are Looking For
- Current Forklift Licence (LF): Essential, for safely unloading trucks and moving pallets in our depot.
- Current MR (Medium Rigid) Driver Licence: Preferred / highly regarded (enables you to cover delivery runs if a driver is away).
- Attention to Detail: Accurate counting and careful checking of product codes, quantities, and use-by dates on delivery manifests.
- Physical Fitness: Comfortable working in a chilled coolroom environment (
+1°C to +4°C) and performing regular manual handling (lifting milk crates, cartons, and moving pallets). - Reliability & Punctuality: Dependable attendance on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings is essential to meet inbound truck schedules.
- Previous experience in foodservice, dairy, grocery receiving, cold storage warehousing, or delivery driving is well regarded, though full training on our depot procedures will be provided.
